What is the Porto's Torrejas?

Torrejas are Cuban-style French toast. Porto's makes them with thick slices of its own croissant loaf.

The original is topped with Porto's guava sauce and tropical fruit, with whipped cream cheese on the side.

Porto's marks them as back by popular demand. Like the rest of the breakfast menu, they're served until 11 AM.

Torrejas calories and nutrition

Porto's doesn't publish calories or nutrition facts for its menu, including the Torrejas.

We haven't found a reliable third-party figure either, so we're not listing one. If you're tracking calories, ask the bakery or log a similar item and treat it as a rough estimate.

Ingredients and allergens

Porto's describes the Torrejas as made with:

  • Croissant loaf
  • Guava sauce
  • Tropical fruit
  • Whipped cream cheese (on the side)

Porto's doesn't publish an allergen chart. From its own description, the Torrejas contains:

  • Wheat, from the croissant loaf.
  • Milk, from the croissant loaf and cream cheese.

We can't confirm anything beyond that. Porto's kitchens handle nuts, dairy, wheat and meat, so tell the counter about any allergy before you order.

How to order the Torrejas

  1. Order at the café counter. Every one of the six bakeries has a café. Porto's serves the Torrejas until 11 am daily.
  2. Plan for lines. Weekend mornings are the busiest time at every bakery. A weekday visit is usually quicker.

Banana Dulce de Leche Torrejas

The newer version costs $9.75. The croissant loaf is soaked until soft and custardy, then topped with fresh bananas, dulce de leche and hazelnut praline.

It's served with a vanilla mascarpone crème fraîche. It contains hazelnuts, which the original doesn't.

Which one to order

The original leans on guava and tropical fruit. The banana version, with dulce de leche, praline and mascarpone, is the richer of the two.
