Porto's Bakery Holiday Hours for Christmas and New Year's 2026

Three dates matter most if you're planning a Porto's run this December. All six bakeries close on Christmas Day. Christmas Eve opens much earlier than usual and closes in the late afternoon. And New Year's Day is a full closure, just like Christmas.

Porto's hasn't posted its 2026 holiday schedule yet. The hours below come from Porto's own holiday pages for 2025, matched against the 2026 calendar. We'll update this page as soon as the new schedule goes up.

Porto's hours, December 23 to January 1

Regular hours return the day after each closure. On a normal day, every Porto's dining room is open from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and online pickup orders run from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

What changes in 2026

The weekdays shift by one. In 2025, Christmas Eve fell on a Wednesday. This year it's a Thursday, and both closures land on a Friday.

That has two practical effects:

• Saturday, December 26 is the first day back. Porto's doesn't publish a special schedule for it, so expect regular hours. Expect a crowd too, since anyone who missed out before Christmas, plus everyone hosting a weekend gathering, will be shopping that morning.
• New Year's Eve plans need to be settled by Thursday afternoon. With the bakery closing at 5:00 PM on Dec. 31 and staying closed Friday, there's no second chance until Saturday, January 2.

When Porto's usually posts the schedule

Porto's announces holiday details late. Its 2025 Christmas page was last updated on December 16, about a week before Christmas Eve. The New Year's page was updated on December 29, just two days before New Year's Eve. If you're reading this in early December and the 2026 hours aren't up yet, that's normal.

Christmas Eve hours change almost every year

If you find an old blog post or a screenshot with Porto's Christmas Eve hours, check the year before you trust it. Here's what Porto's itself announced in recent years:

The opening time has moved earlier and the closing time later. The one thing that hasn't changed is Christmas Day: every year, all bakeries close so the team can spend the day with their families.

What the holiday menu looks like

On the two busiest days before each holiday, Porto's switches to a limited holiday menu for same-day orders. In 2025 that applied on December 23 and 24, and again on December 30 and 31. Here's what it meant at the counter:

• Pastries were sold mostly by the dozen. If you want two Cheese Rolls and a coffee, you can still get coffee, but the pastry case works differently on these days.
• Cakes came in one size only. No choosing between sizes for Tres Leches or Parisian Chocolate.
• Café, kitchen and coffee bar items stayed available. Sandwiches, platos and drinks were on the menu as usual.

Porto's posts a PDF of the exact holiday menu on its holiday page each year. It's worth opening before you order, because some everyday items don't make the cut.

How to get your order without the 5 AM line

Christmas Eve opening time is 4:30 AM for a reason. People line up early, and walk-in items are first-come, first-served. The later you show up, the thinner the pastry case gets.

You've got better options than setting an alarm for 4:00 AM.

Order online the night before. Porto's online ordering reopens every night at 10 PM. On the holiday days, online orders are same-day pickup only, so for a Christmas Eve pickup you'd place your order at 10 PM on December 23. Each bakery has a daily limit, and once it's full, pickup times disappear for that day.

Bring your card and ID. Online orders are collected at the Preorder Counter, and Porto's asks to see both the payment card used for the order and a photo ID.

Choose your bakery carefully. Porto's can't transfer an order from one location to another, so double-check which bakery you selected before you pay.

Go on December 23 instead. The day before Christmas Eve has full evening hours, until 8:00 PM, though the holiday menu still applies. If you're buying pastries that reheat well, like Cheese Rolls, Potato Balls or Refugiados, picking them up a day early takes a lot of pressure off Christmas Eve morning. Cakes are better picked up as close to serving time as possible.

Know the regular online cut-off. On a normal day, online ordering closes at 6:00 PM for that day's pickups. Check the holiday page in case Porto's adjusts this during Christmas week.

After Christmas: Rosca de Reyes for Three Kings Day

Porto's doesn't stop after New Year's. In early January, the bakery sells Rosca de Reyes for Three Kings Day, which falls on January 6.

In January 2023, Porto's offered full-size Roscas at all six bakeries for walk-in customers, made with candied orange peel, orange blossom water and pasta seca on top. Porto's said they were baked fresh each day. In January 2026, NBC Los Angeles reported that the smaller Rosquita, a single-serving Rosca, was back at Porto's as well.

These are short-run items. In past years, Porto's has sold them only through Three Kings Day, while supplies lasted. Expect them again in the first week of January 2027, but check with your bakery before you go, since Porto's hasn't announced its plans yet.

Other days Porto's changes its hours

Christmas and New Year's aren't the only days with special hours.

• Halloween 2026: Porto's has already posted this one. On Saturday, October 31, all bakeries are open from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, three and a half hours earlier than usual.
