Porto's Potato Ball (Papa Rellena)
Prices and details last checked: Oct 24, 2026
The Potato Ball is Porto's best-known savory item and the one most people order next to a Cheese Roll.
Here's the price, what's inside, roughly how many calories it has, and how to order or ship a dozen.

What is the Porto's Potato Ball?
It's a ball of potato puree stuffed with Rosa Porto's original picadillo, then coated in panko and fried until crisp.
Picadillo is a Cuban-style seasoned ground beef. Porto's describes its version as ground beef with onion, bell pepper, olive and Spanish seasonings.
Porto's calls it a bakery classic. The outside is crunchy, the potato is soft, and the filling is savory with a little briny bite from the olives.

Ingredients and allergens
Porto's describes the Potato Ball as made with:
- Potato puree
- Picadillo: seasoned ground beef, onion, bell pepper, olive, Spanish seasonings
- Panko crust
Porto's doesn't publish an allergen chart. From its own description, the Potato Ball contains:
- Wheat, from the panko crust.
The filling contains beef, so it isn't vegetarian. For a meat-free version, look at the Cheese & Spicy Peppers Potato Ball.
We can't confirm anything beyond that. Porto's kitchens handle nuts, dairy, wheat and meat, so tell the counter about any allergy before you order.

Leftovers and reheating
Potato Balls are best warm. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours and eat them within three to four days.
Reheat them in a 350°F oven for 10 to 15 minutes or an air fryer for 5 to 8 minutes. The microwave softens the crust.
